Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms govern your use of Papernils, operated by [legal entity]. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use Papernils.

2. The service

Papernils lets you capture receipts (by photo, voice, or by hand), have their line items read by AI, split costs with other people, and track who owes whom. It's a record-keeping and calculation tool for personal use.

3. Your account

• Sign-in is passwordless via a one-time link sent to your email. You're responsible for keeping access to that email account secure.
• One account per person. You must be at least [age] and able to form a binding contract.
• You're responsible for activity under your account.

4. Your content

• You keep ownership of the receipts, images, and information you put into Papernils.
• You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that content only to provide the service to you — including sending receipt images to our AI provider to extract line items and voice recordings to our transcription provider (see the Privacy Policy). We don't use your content for advertising and we don't sell it.
• You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload, including any information about other people you add to a split.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use Papernils for anything unlawful; don't upload other people's information without a proper basis; don't try to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the service or other users' data; and don't use it to harass anyone.

6. Money and settlements

• Papernils does not move, hold, or process money. It is not a bank, payment processor, escrow, or money-services business.
• “Settle up” features open your own third-party payment apps (or copy a payment handle) with an amount filled in for convenience. Any payment happens in those apps, between you and the other person, subject to their terms.
• You're responsible for verifying amounts and for making or receiving payments yourself. Split calculations, rounding, and balances are provided as a convenience and may contain errors — check them before relying on them.
• We are not a party to, and not responsible for, payment disputes between you and anyone you split with.

7. AI-generated results

Receipt reading and voice transcription are automated and may be inaccurate. Papernils shows you the extracted items so you can review and correct them; you're responsible for checking them before you rely on or share a split.

8. Availability and changes

The service is provided on an ongoing basis but may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued [notice terms].

9. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law [final warranty language to be set by counsel].

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, [entity] is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for amounts relating to payments between users [enforceable limitation + any cap to be set by counsel].

11. Termination

You may stop using Papernils and delete your account at any time from your Account page. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms [notice terms].

13. Changes to these Terms
